Bela Krajina (Region,100 km SE of Ljubljana) is not only a synonym for good cuisine and unspoilt nature but is also well known as the land of friendly folk. The people of Bela Krajina will cheerfully offer you the best that they can afford: home baked cakes, suckled pork or lamb roasted on a spit, Bela krajna stuffing and a whole range of excellent wines.

The River Kolpa, the main site of interest in the Nature Park Kolpa, passes through the southern edge of Bela Krajina. Clean water, naturally intact river beds, numerous rapids and coves decorate the river. The Krajina Park is noted for its characteristically shaped Karst landscape, where cultivated fern-lands and carefully tended sinkholes are formed into terraces. The cultivated land retains a primeval air especially on the meadows and pastures. Due to this fact the River Kolpa is listed as one of the areas of broader international concern, recognised under the name »Natura 2000«.

The Podzemelj Camp is sited on the road running from Metlika to Črnomelj, just after the village of Gradac. It is pleasantly situated with a restaurant, children’s playground and sports ground. Boating with kayaks, canoes or rafts as well as fishing permits are additional activities on offer here in the campsite. The bathing areas are well-kept and suitable for young children. A timber raft is installed in the middle of the river giving swimmers a pleasant rest point. Visits to nearby vineyard cottages with excellent Bela Krajina wine tasting are also favourable.

The surrounding lanes are ideal for cycling with several points of interest along the river Kolpa and in the nearby dales and villages. More information and a list of possible local excursions can be obtained at the reception.

Adria Mobile Homes offer four adults and two children a comfortable stay. These are found in close vicinity of the river Kolpa and have a shady wooden terrace and air conditioning – cool in the summer/heated in the autumn and spring. For 4+2 persons there is a double bedroom, a room with twin beds, an equipped kitchen, WC + shower with hot water and Satellite TV. Beside the bungalows is enough room to park a car, motor bike and for the children to play games.
