What is glamping? Part 2

The substantive or, rather, the conceptual roots of glamping go back to the year 1900, when the intellectual strata of society travelled to Africa, Asia and America. They "organized" their stay in nature, in the middle of nowhere, but with perfect luxury, the basic ingredients of which were a butler (we can also say servant staff), water, sanitary facilities and luxuriously equipped living-sleeping space, with a touch of local culture.

This word is all too often used (misused) for marketing purposes, so it's worth being cautious when a particular destination uses the term glamping when addressing its potential guests.

It consists of the best elements of the camping (direct residence in nature, clean air, "song" of nature, enjoyment of open fire, freedom, local culture), and unpleasant ones are exempted or upgraded - you do not set up the tent yourself, it's already there, waiting for you; you will not lay on the ground but, instead, on a comfortable bed; you will not be cold nor shockingly hot, which will be ensured by the staff, who pleasantly cool or heat the tent; rain, storms, potential snow - from the warm and safe shelter of a glamping tent, you will be able to observe it all, without being cold or wet; waiting in line in common bathrooms and toilets - when glamping, you are provided with a bathroom, toiled and running water, often even a private Jacuzzi and sauna in the context of the tent; you will be able to spoil the gourmand in you with delicacies, available in the resort or brought to you by service staff, perhaps even the chef in person; when glamping, you will be able to enjoy an open fire without looking for and gathering suitable firewood, dry matches, a safe space... the fire will be lit by the resort staff.

Glamping most often consists of glamping tents, but this is not always the case. Living units can also be a yurta, a Gypsy or an American cart, Arab canopies, Indian tents, wooden towers, a tree house, an igloo, a retro-trailer, a Volkswagen van, a barrel, various types of containers - depending on the local culture and geographical location, however, only a few of these units in a location are not enough, do not justify the term GLAMPING.

In addition to the necessity of providing basic modern urban or, more precisely, civilized needs - running water, bathroom, sanitary facilities, bed, dry and safe space regardless of weather - glamping must also have a certain number of staff who care for the guests at a luxury level. In addition, this is a conceptually closed unit (resort), which is integrated into the local environment in the least abrasive way possible.

Finally, every glamping resort is designed and built on the principle of integrated and sustainable development; it protects and preserves nature and develops components (natural pool, heat pumps, composting, natural local vegetation, natural materials ...) that follow the natural processes in it.
